Police investigate after elderly woman seriously injured during break and enter in Murrumbidgee

Police are appealing for public assistance after reports an elderly woman was seriously injured during an aggravated break and enter in the state’s Murrumbidgee region yesterday.

About 8.30am (Monday 14 March 2022), an 84-year-old woman was found in her home on Twynam Street, Narrandera, covered in blood.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman at the scene for injuries to her face, including a fractured eye socket, swelling and bruising to both eyes, a deep laceration to her cheek, and bruising to her back.

She was conveyed to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and then airlifted to Canberra Hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District were notified and commenced an investigation into the cause of the woman’s injuries.

Strike Force Trebartha has been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A crime scene was established and the scene continues to be forensically examined.
