Police investigate armed robbery in Kingsford

Detectives continue to appeal for information from the public as inquiries continue into an armed robbery in Sydney’s east last week.

Just after 2pm on Wednesday 22 July 2020, a man was walking northbound along Anzac Parade at Kingsford, when he was approached by two men who allegedly threatened him with a knife and demanded money.

The two men fled the scene on foot with the cash, and the matter was reported to officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command by a nearby witness.

Following inquiries, two men – aged 18 and 19 – were arrested the same day about 3pm at a home on Cook Avenue, Daceyville, and taken to Mascot Police Station.

A search warrant was executed at the home, where items relevant to the investigation were seized including clothing and a knife.

The men were charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

The younger man was refused bail and appeared before Central Local Court on Thursday 23 July 2020, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Thursday 17 September 2020.

The older man was refused bail and appeared before Downing Centre Local court on Thursday 23 July 2020, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear before the same court on Thursday 17 September 2020.

As investigations continue, police are yet to speak with the man who was approached by the pair, who is described as being of Asian appearance and about 175cm tall. At the time he was wearing a navy-blue jumper, black pants, grey and white shoes and a face mask.
