Police are investigating an assault in Port Melbourne on 16 September that left the victim with a fractured nose.
Investigators have been told a man was sitting outside a café on Bay Street about 11.45am when he was approached by an unknown man.
The man started yelling at the victim before punching him in the face and walking away.
The offender is described as 183cm tall with a thin build, balding and was wearing a white and black jacket over a yellow and blue jumper, black jeans and runners.
The assault appears unprovoked.
Investigators have released an image of a man that may be able to assist with their enquiries.
