Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are currently in Kiata investigating a death.
A passerby located human remains on the Western Highway just after 8am on 4 April.
The deceased is yet to be formally identified.
The cause of death is yet to be determined but is being treated as a possible hit-run at this stage.
Roads in the vicinity of Nhill-Jeparit and Dimboola-Rainbow Roads will be closed for some time as police investigate.
