Police investigate deliberately-lit fires at Ringwood

Police are appealing for information following a series of deliberately-lit fires at the Mullum Mullum Creek Trail and Bedford Park in Ringwood.

Investigators believe the first fire was started in parkland on the Mullum Mullum Creek Trail, near Chesney Drive on Saturday 21 December at 3.30pm.

Another four fires were reported on the Mullum Mullum Creek Trail, near Acacia Court and Ringwood Street, between midnight and 4.30am the next day on Sunday 22.

Later that morning, a fire was detected in Bedford Park near the Scout Hall, before another fire was found on the Mullum Mullum Creek Trail near Larissa Avenue about 4.20pm.

The fires were quickly brought under control by the Metropolitan Fire Brigade with no damage to private property.

Investigators have released a photofit image and photograph of a male riding a bicycle in the area they believe may be able to help them with their inquiries.
