Police investigate sexual assault in Balaclava

Police are investigating the sexual assault of a teenage girl in Balaclava.

Investigators have been told the 17-year-old female victim was walking on Carlisle Street about 11.30pm on 23 March when she encountered an unknown male.

The pair spoke briefly before the man grabbed the victim and sexually assaulted her.

She was able to break free and run from the scene.

The offender was perceived to be of Asian appearance and was described as having a strong accent, short dark hair, and a chubby face with acne scars.

He also had a blue sleeping bag in his possession.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward with information.

Investigators have released a computer-generated image of a male they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
