Police from Flemington are appealing for public assistance following a theft and assault at a store in Flemington last month.
Investigators have been told four people, two males and two females entered the Racecourse Road store about 6pm on 18 July.
They selected a number of items from the store and attempted to leave without paying.
The staff member, a 64-year-old Brunswick man, confronted the foursome and attempted to stop the group from leaving the store.
They resisted and one of the group, a female, punched the staff member in the face and all four ran from the store.
Police have released images of four people they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
