Police investigating after man assaulted – Rocks

An investigation is underway after a man was assaulted at The Rocks overnight.

Emergency services were called to Harrington Street about 2.15am (Sunday 18 June 2023), where they found a man with facial injuries.

Police were told the 32-year-old was waiting with friends for a ride-share when a taxi stopped near them.

One of the passengers exited the taxi and approached the man, who was unknown to him, before punching him in the face.

He fled in the taxi and the injured man walked to a nearby convenience store where emergency services were alerted.

The 32-year-old was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he was treated for facial lacerations, and shock.

An investigation into the incident is underway, and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
