Police investigating after man shot dead in Belmore

An investigation is underway after a man was shot dead in Sydney’s south-west this morning.

Emergency services responded to Knox Street, Belmore, just before 4am (Saturday 14 May 2022), following reports a man had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers from Campsie Police Area Command located a man with gunshot wounds to his torso.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics; however, died at the scene. The man, believed to be aged in his 20s, is yet to be formally identified.

A crime scene has been established, which will be examined by specialist forensic officers.

Detectives have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Knox Street remains closed with local traffic diversions in place.
