Police lay charges after sexual touching in Caringbah

Police have charged a man following an alleged sexual touching at Caringbah last week.

About 6.20am on Thursday 9 January 2020, a man boarded a train at Central Railway Station, bound for Caringbah, and sat next to a woman, who was sleeping.

Police will allege the woman woke up and observed the man exposing himself and inappropriately touching her.

Officers attached to the Police Transport Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attended a licensed premises on Campbell Parade, Bondi Beach, and arrested a 50-year-old man.

He was taken to Waverley Police Station, where he was charged with sexually touch another person without consent, common assault, wilful and obscene exposure in/near public place/school and wilfully interfere with comfort or safety of others.

He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before Sutherland Local Court on Friday 13 March 2020.
