Police lay charges – Domestic Violence in Darwin 5 December

Northern Territory Police have charged a man with multiple domestic violence offences.

Investigators from the Domestic and Family Unit, with the assistance of the Australian Federal Police, arrested the 31-year-old man after arriving back to the Northern Territory for assaults in the Darwin region between September 2021 and November 2023.

He has since been charged with:

  • 1 x Unlawfully cause serious harm
  • 3 x Choking, strangling or suffocating in a domestic relationship
  • 6 x Aggravated assault
  • 1 x Deprive a person of personal liberty
  • 1 x Make a threat to kill a person
  • 1 x Threats of injury or detriment

He was remanded to appear before Darwin Local Court today.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Ian Young said, “Perpetrators of domestic and family violence will be held accountable for their actions.”
