Police make arrest after car stolen from Adelaide, South Australia

A man has been arrested after stealing a car in Adelaide.

Police will allege that about 7.15pm today (Sunday 13 June), a man was sitting in the passenger seat of his girlfriend’s car where it was parked in Bray Street.

An unknown man got into the driver’s seat, and the victim got out of the car. The man then drove off in the Toyota sedan.

The victim had left his phone in the car, so he used another person’s phone to contact police immediately who were able to track the car’s path, relaying that information to the police helicopter (PolAir).

The vehicle was tracked by PolAir for about an hour, as it travelled throughout the CBD and surrounding suburbs, eventually stopping at the intersection of Payneham Road and Ashbrook Avenue, Payneham where the suspect abandoned the car.

He was arrested soon after.

The 27-year-old Croydon Park man will face numerous charges including illegal use of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving.
