A man has been charged after allegedly stealing a front end loader from Seaford Heights this morning, with more stolen property found at his home address.
Police will allege that just before 2am today (Sunday 14 June) patrols were called to a construction site on Cotterell Road after reports a man had been seen on the property.
As patrols were heading to the scene they received further information that the man had gotten into a front end loader and was driving west. When patrols, including Police Dog Stoic arrived at the scene they located fresh tyre tracks heading toward Main South Road.
Patrols cordoned the area finding the front end loader bogged and abandoned, with an air compressor in the bucket. PD Stoic tracked from the vehicle and located a 27-year-old Tatachilla man hiding in scrub nearby.
The man was arrested and charged with being unlawfully on premises, illegal use, disobey direction to stop, property damage and theft.
A further search of his house uncovered a stolen Isuzu station wagon, two Husqvarna ride-on lawn mowers and a trailer. The mowers and trailer were stolen from a break-in at a school in McLaren Vale earlier this month.
Another premises at Seaford Heights was searched, with a quick-cut saw and numerous other stolen power tools located, all of which are believed to have been stolen from break-ins at Seaford Rise.
He was bailed to appear at the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 28 June.
