Police make arrest – Bayswater arson

Arson Squad detectives have charged a man in relation to their investigation into a fire at a business in River Road in Bayswater that occurred on Sunday, 4 April 2021.

It is alleged around 2.55am, the charged man in company of another used a stolen vehicle to force entry into the commercial property.

It is further alleged they broke windows of the front officer of the warehouse and using an accelerant set fire to the warehouse and vehicles.

The fire damaged multiple vehicles and the front of the business causing an estimated $2,500,000 damage.

A 27-year-old man from Girrawheen has been charged with:-

• Two counts of Criminal Damage by Fire;

• One count of Aggravated Burglary and Commit; and

• One count of Stealing of a Motor Vehicle.

He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today, 4 August 2021.
