Police Make Arrest – Domestic Violence At Tennant Creek 25 February

Northern Territory Police arrested a man in connection with a disturbance in Tennant Creek.

On Friday evening, local police intervened in a series of incidents involving an intoxicated individual. The man is alleged to have forcibly entered a residence, assaulting his partner. Witnesses intervened, attempting to restrain the male, while the victim sought refuge in another residence. Despite this, the male continued to pursue and assault the victim.

Upon receiving reports, police located the male armed with a garden rake. Despite verbal commands to stop, the male refused to comply and was apprehended through taser deployment.

The offender was subsequently taken to the hospital and later deemed fit for custody. He is presently in police custody and is anticipated to face multiple charges, including Negligently Causing Serious Harm, Aggravated Burglary x2, Aggravated Assault x2, Assaulting a Member of the Police Force x2, Damage to Property, and being Armed with an Offensive Weapon at Night.

The victim has been airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital and is in stable condition.

Investigations led by Tennant Creek Criminal Investigation Branch are ongoing.
