Police Make Arrest – Domestic Violence – Palmerston 9 May

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man after a serious domestic violence incident in Palmerston overnight.

Around 7:20pm, police received reports that a man had assaulted his female partner with a hammer at a residence in Gray.

Multiple units attended the scene and the woman, aged in her 30’s, was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital with serious head injuries.

A crime scene was declared and a coordinated response was launched to locate the offender.

A short time later, a 42-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody. He is expected to be charged later today.

Detectives believe the man discarded the weapon at an unknown location in Gray. Northern Territory Police are calling on members of the public who live in the area to conduct checks of their property and if they locate the weapon to immediately contact police on 131 444, and quote reference 2400045849.
