Police Make Arrests In Rundle Mall

A police operation focusing on public safety and thefts in Rundle Mall and surrounds has resulted in six arrests and two reports in the past two days.

The proactive policing action by Eastern District utilised highly visible foot patrols and was supported by Operation Measure and Dog Operations Unit.

About 11.20am on Monday 25 March, as a result of a PADD dog indication, police searched a man in Rundle Mall. The 37-year-old Adelaide man was allegedly located in possession of a variety of a trafficable quantity of drugs, drug paraphernalia and identity cards. He was arrested and charged with four counts of trafficking in a controlled drug, two counts of possess a controlled drug, possess equipment and two counts of unlawful possession of the identity cards.

About 3.10PM on Monday, officers on a foot patrol of Rundle Mall spotted a man believed to be wanted. A 51-year-old Ingle Farm man was subsequently arrested for an outstanding warrant and charged with 13 counts of deception and breach of bail. He appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today and was remanded in custody.

About 9.20am today, Tuesday 26 March, police on foot patrol in Rundle Mall were alerted to a shop theft by a sports store retail worker. A 16-year-old Northfield boy was located nearby, allegedly wearing the stolen clothing. He was arrested and charged with theft and carry prohibited weapon, after a machete (pictured) was found in his possession. He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on 9 May.

About 11.30am today, police on foot patrol observed a man with a men’s road bike acting suspiciously. Conversations with the man revealed the bike to be stolen. The 41-year-old Salisbury Park man was arrested and charged with unlawful possession and possess articles to commit offences, after he was allegedly found with bolt cutters, an angle grinder and various tools. He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 21 June. The bike has been returned to its owner.

About 12.30pm today, police conducting PADD Dog Operations in Rundle Mall stopped and spoke to a 14-year-old Campbelltown boy. A search revealed he was allegedly in possession of a knife (pictured), two balaclavas, gloves and a female’s handbag. He was arrested and charged with carry offensive weapon, carry article of disguise and unlawful possession. He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on 15 May.

At 1.30pm today, police conducting PADD Dog Operations in Rundle Mall stopped and spoke to a 37-year-old Adelaide man. He was searched and allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine. As a result, he was arrested and charged with possess a controlled drug and bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 21 June.

At 2pm today, police conducting PADD Dog Operations in Rundle Mall stopped a 17-year-old Edwardstown girl after a positive drug indication. A subsequent search allegedly revealed she was in possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. She was reported and will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court at a later date.

At 2.10pm today, police stopped a 44-year-old Dover Gardens man in Rundle Mall after a positive drug dog indication. Police searched the man and found a small quantity of methamphetamine. He was reported and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
