Police officers injured during incident in Rosetta

Police are investigating an incident in Rosetta this afternoon where two police officers were injured.

Around 1.20pm police responded to a request for assistance at an address on Mitchell Avenue.

During an incident at the property, a female police officer was struck to the neck, and a male police officer received multiple cuts after his arm went through a glass windowpane.

The male officer remains in the Royal Hobart Hospital and will require surgery. The female officer remains in hospital as a precaution.

A 28-year-old man who was at the property is in the Royal Hobart Hospital undergoing medial assessment. It appears he may have been suffering a medical episode when the incident occurred.

A police investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Inspector John Ward from Glenorchy Police said, “The incident in Rosetta today highlights that emergency services often attend unpredictable situations while protecting and assisting the community.”

“While there is risk associated with every incident emergency services attend, officers put their own safety on the line while protecting others.”
