The Gympie Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating the death of a woman following a fatal wounding incident in Cooloola Cove last night, June 15.
Police were called to Creekside Esplanade around 7.15pm following reports a woman in her 50s had sustained a stab wound.
She was treated at the scene but died from her injuries.
A man in his 50s is assisting police with their inquiries.
A crime scene has been declared and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
