Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Aitkenvale 14 November

Townsville Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal traffic crash at Aitkenvale yesterday, November 13.

Initial investigations indicate around 3.30pm, a Holden Monaro and a motorised wheelchair were travelling along Alfred Street when they collided.

The motorised wheelchair rider, an 85-year-old Aitkenvale man, was transported to Townsville University Hospital in a critical condition and was pronounced deceased later that night.

The driver of the Holden, a 28-year-old Kelso man, was not physically injured, and is currently assisting police with investigations.

Officers are urging witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV vision is contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
