Police are investigating a two-car crash at Coolum Beach this afternoon which resulted in a 3-year-old boy sustaining critical injuries.
Preliminary information suggests a silver Mitsubishi Pajero was travelling southbound on the Sunshine Motorway when it collided with a Mazda CX-9 heading north around 2.15pm.
A 3-year-old male passenger in the Pajero sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Queensland Children’s Hospital.
The driver of the Pajero, a 36-year-old man, and a 3-year-old female passenger were taken to hospital in a stable condition.
The 38-year-old female driver of the Mazda and two children aged 12 and 4 were also transported for further medical treatment.
The Forensic Crash Unit is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have dashcam vision to come forward.
