Police searching for man who crashed into cars in Melbourne CBD

Police are appealing for public assistance to help identify a man involved in the theft of a motor vehicle.

On January 31, police responded to a vehicle driving erratically in the CBD, about 12.30pm.

It is believed the vehicle had been stolen from Acacia Place, Abbotsford earlier that morning.

When police attempted to intercept the vehicle on Little Bourke Street, for making an illegal left turn, it drove away at a fast speed.

The car mounted and the footpath at the intersection of Little Bourke and King Streets, crashing into vehicles stopped at a red light.

No one was injured in the collision.

The vehicle then continued driving and was located abandoned shortly after at a Docklands shopping centre about 12.55pm.

The offender is perceived to be Middle Eastern in appearance, 180cm tall with a slim build and short dark hair.

He was wearing a navy and blue Adidas jacket, black Adidas track pants and orange runners with white runners.

Investigators have released an image of the man in the hope someone may have information on his current whereabouts.
