Northern Territory Police are calling for information following a structure fire near a Winnellie motel last night.
At around 7pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre received multiple reports of a fire at the location, with complainants self-evacuating after hearing sounds of explosions.
Upon arrival, NT Fire and Rescue Service observed a work shed to be engulfed in flames before extinguishing the fire. A crime scene has been established, and Fire Investigators and Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances around how the fire started.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Wayne Newell said, “We’re calling on the public to assist with our investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 131 444 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference number 9693602.”
