Police seek witnesses – attempted armed robbery, Blacks Beach

Mackay detectives investigating the attempted armed robbery of a Blacks Beach convenience store on Friday, August 23 are appealing for witnesses and dash cam vision.

Around 5.40am a man entered the Blacks Beach Road business and produced a pistol threatening a 63-year-old male employee and demanding cash.

The employee refused, and the man fled empty handed and was seen to enter a small sedan.

He is described as aged in his 20s or early 30s, with a dark complexion and approximately 175cms tall. He was wearing black pants, a red jumper and a mask covering his face.

Anyone with any information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact police (details below).

Detectives are also appealing for motorists who travelled in the vicinity between 5.30 and 6.15am on Friday and may have dash cam vision to contact them (details below).

No one was physically injured.
