Police are calling for witnesses to an assault which occurred on Bloomfield Street, early Saturday morning.
It is alleged that around 7am yesterday, a male physically assaulted a female near the corner of Bloomfield and Musgrave Streets.
The male and female are believed to be known to each other. The female suffered a broken jaw in the assault and is being airlifted to Darwin for surgery.
The incident was reported to police.
