Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit detectives are seeking public assistance after a vehicle was set alight in a residential street in Altona North in August.
The incident occurred on McIntosh Road about 11.45pm on 8 August.
Investigators have been told the offender arrived in a dark coloured sports car, believed to be a Ford Focus Sport which had distinctive rims.
The offender then poured what appears to be an accelerant on the victim’s vehicle before setting it alight while it was parked in a residential driveway.
The offender then got into the front passenger seat of the Ford before fleeing north-east along McIntosh Road toward The Circle.
Detectives have released an image and CCTV of the incident and appeal to anyone with information to come forward.
