Police seek witnesses to hit-run on cyclist in Strathmore Heights

Police are appealing for witnesses to a hit-run collision which occurred in Strathmore Heights last month.

Investigators have been told a 43-year-old St Essendon man was riding in a group of up to six other cyclists on Mascoma Street about 6am on 17 June.

The victim allegedly was mid-way through making a right turn at the intersection of Melrose Drive, when he was struck by a south bound black Ford Falcon station wagon and thrown from his bicycle.

It is believed the driver of the Ford did not stop at the scene and drove away on the wrong side of the road before turning right onto Dromana Avenue.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was conveyed to hospital.

Police believe the Ford may have sustained damage to the front driver’s side panel.

Investigators are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage of the black Ford Falcon before or after the collision to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
