Townsville police investigating the theft of three cars yesterday and a number of recent property offences have so far charged a total of nine people with 38 offences, with additional charges expected as investigations continue.
District Officer, Acting Superintendent Damien Crosby thanked the public for their assistance.
“Information from and the assistance of the Townsville community was pivotal to the prompt identification and arrest of this core group of offenders.
“That ongoing and continued support is greatly appreciated.”
Detectives have so far charged:
A 38-year-old Townsville man charged with three offences which included burglary and possessing dangerous drugs. He was denied police bail and was due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court yesterday (January 3).
A 31-year-old Mount Louisa man charged with 14 offences including five counts of stealing, four counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle (UUMV), three of disqualified driving, one of trespass, and one count of obstruct police. He was denied police bail and was due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court today.
A 19-year-old Condon man was issued with a notice to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court charged with one count of UUMV.
A 17-year-old Condon boy charged with one count of UUMV.
A media release issued yesterday (see below) advised the following juveniles had been charged:
A 15-year-old Kirwan girl charged with UUMV and stealing.
A 15-year-old Pimlico girl charged with seven property and vehicle offences – four fraud related offences, one count each of UUMV, receiving tainted property and burglary.
A 13-year-old Kelso boy was charged with seven property and vehicle related offences – three counts of UUMV, two of trespass, and one count each of burglary and commit indictable offence and obstruct police.
A 13-year-old Heatley boy charged with one count of UUMV and an 11-year-old Condon boy with two counts of UUMV.

Police have charged five children following the theft of three vehicles from a Cranbrook address early this morning.
At about 5.30am police received a report of a break and enter at a Bryant Street residence.
Three cars were stolen from the address including a white Toyota Corolla, white Toyota Camry and a silver Holden Commodore.
At about 6am the Toyota Camry was located by police on Riverway Drive with damage to the left tyre.
At about 6.15am the Toyota Corolla was involved in a fuel drive off at a Rangeview Street petrol station in Deeragun.
At about 9.10am the Holden Commodore was involved in a fuel drive off at a Pilkington Street petrol station in Garbutt.
At 12.50pm police will allege a youth jumped out of the Holden Commodore along The Strand and stole a handbag from a 39-year-old woman. The child then jumped back into the car.
A short time later the car crashed along The Strand. A 15-year-old Kirwan girl was arrested at the scene. She was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing.
Members of the public notified police around 3pm after a number of youths were seen running from the crash of third stolen car, a Toyota Corolla on Boyes Court in Heatley.
Upon police arrival three boys were taken into custody. A fourth boy was arrested on Alsop Drive.
15-year-old Pimlico girl was charged with three counts of fraud and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempted fraud, receiving tainted property and burglary.
A 13-year-old Kelso boy was charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of trespass and one count each of burglary and obstruct police.
13-year-old Heatley boy and an 11-year-old Condon boy were both charged with one and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
