Police update 2: Property crime and stolen vehicle incidents at Townsville

Police have made more arrests following a series of incidents involving alleged stolen cars in Townsville last Thursday.

On May 13, around 5.30am, a blue Ford sedan was allegedly stolen from a house in Sharon Crescent, Kelso. It will be further alleged owner of the vehicle followed the blue Ford in a second vehicle, and the two vehicles collided on Riverway Drive at Condon.

It will also be alleged a stolen white Toyota Landcruiser deliberately travelled towards a motorist, who stopped to assist the occupants of the blue Ford sedan.

The occupants from the Ford and the Landcruiser fled the scene.

A 22-year-old Rasmussen woman was arrested last night and has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, evading police and two counts of failing to comply with duties of a driver involved in a crash. She is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court tomorrow.

On May 15, three 16-year-old boys were charged with eleven offences.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with entering a premises to commit an indictable offence and three counts of stealing.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted burglary, entering a premises to commit an indictable offence, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing drug utensils and possessing tainted property.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with receiving tainted property and two counts of burglary and committing an indictable offence.

Chief Superintendent Craig Hanlon said police have made more arrests following the disgusting behaviour witnessed in Townsville last Thursday.

“Over the weekend, investigations continued and four people have been charged with multiple offences.

“The people of Townsville expect to be able to travel around their city in a safe way and do not expect to be subjected to the disgraceful behaviour we witnessed last week,” Chief Superintendent Hanlon said.
