Police update: Criminal damage in Alice Springs

Strike Force Viper has apprehended two youths in relation to a series of criminal damages in Alice Springs earlier this week.

Police responded to multiple reports of parked vehicles having their windows smashed across the Alice Springs CBD and hospital car park areas on Wednesday afternoon.

Investigations undertaken by Strike Force Viper identified two youths, aged 12 and 13 years old involved in the criminal damage of 25 vehicles.

Members of Strike Force Viper located and arrested the youth this morning, who were both taken to the Alice Springs Watch House where they were charges with 16 counts of Damage to property and 2 counts of Trespass on enclosed premise.

A 12-year-old male will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act and police have strongly opposed bail for the 13-year-old male.

Investigations to identify other people involved in the criminal and property offences, continues.
