Premier must take responsibility for state’s tanking economy 29 January 2024

Tas Labor

The Liberal Government’s favourite economic report now shows what we have been saying for years: Tasmania’s economy is struggling under Jeremy Rockliff’s leadership.

The latest CommSec State of the State report shows Tasmania now has the worst annual growth in the country, coming in at eighth (p13).

Tasmania has now dropped to 5th in the country for economic performance.

As the Minister for Economic Development Jeremy Rockliff must take full responsibility for the current state of Tasmania’s economy.

The state budget is in record deficit, headed towards $5.6 billion in debt and the state has run out of energy.

Tasmanians are hurting and are doing it tough, and can’t afford for the economy to get worse.

The Liberals need to take responsibility for the state of the economy. They have had 10 years to fix our health system, our housing sector, energy generation and cost of living.

They have failed on all fronts.
