Australia’s summer cruise season has officially begun following the return of international megaliner Majestic Princess to Sydney this morning.

The largest and newest ship in the Princess Cruises fleet, Majestic Princess’ return to Sydney also marks the beginning of Princess’ biggest ever Australian season which is set to inject upwards of $70 million into the New South Wales economy.

Speaking onboard Majestic Princess today, Princess Cruises Senior Vice President Asia Pacific, Stuart Allison said Majestic Princess’ return to Sydney and the impending arrival of the 3,080 Ruby Princess meant that Princess will have two of its four newest ships sailing in this region.

“Australia is home to our most avid Princess cruisers. In fact the repeat rate amongst our Australian guests is the highest in the world. With the addition of these two mega-ships, Princess Cruises’ capacity in Sydney has jumped 25% in just 2 years.”

“This reflects not only the continued strength in local demand, but a growing interest amongst international travellers to cruise this region on ships like Majestic Princess,” Mr Allison said.

Joining Mr. Allison, Master of the Majestic Princess Captain Craig Street added:

“Sydney is a wonderful destination and it’s a drawcard for many of our international guests onboard. I know the affection Australians have for Majestic Princess. Thousands have already sailed with us and like me they too love this elegant lady of the sea,” Said Captain Street.

Princess Cruises’ Master Mixologist, Rob Floyd was also onboard Majestic Princess this morning to join in the celebrations. A Los Angeles native, Rob is in Sydney to give Aussies their first taste of summer with his new signature cocktail menu now available fleet-wide on all Princess Cruises ships.

During her second season return, Majestic Princess will sail on itineraries around Australia and New Zealand, making maiden calls to Airlie Beach (21 Sept), Yorkeys Knob (22 Sept) and Port Douglas (23 Sept) as well as Adelaide (18 Feb 2020); Busselton (21 Feb 2020) and Fremantle (22 Feb 2020).

At 143,700 tonnes, Majestic Princess is equivalent to 126 Sydney Manly ferries, while her height of more than 68 metres makes her taller than the Sydney Opera House. The ultimate in premium cruising, Majestic Princess offers 13 dining options including specialty dining by two Michelin star-awarded chefs. The ship is also home to the largest retail shopping space at sea, with more than 1000 square metres of luxury brands.

Majestic Princess departs Sydney today for a 10-night Queensland cruise sailing to Brisbane, Airlie Beach, Yorkys Knob, Port Douglas, and Willis Island before returning to Sydney.

Majestic Princess will return to Australian shores again in late 2020 for another record season of cruising from Sydney.
