Probationary driver caught drink driving in Sunshine

A probationary driver has had his licence suspended after allegedly being caught drink driving following a collision with a parked car in Sunshine this morning.

Keilor Downs members were patrolling the area when they were called to a collision in Hampshire Road about 6.30am.

The probationary driver, in a 2014 Holden Cruz, had allegedly collided with a parked car in the area causing extensive damage to his vehicle.

The 29-year-old from Tarneit underwent a breath test before being taken to a police station where he returned an alleged evidentiary reading of 0.138.

The man’s licence was immediately suspended for 12 months.

He is expected to be charged on summons to appear at the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court at a later date for drink driving, careless driving and failing to display P plates.

“The festive season is approaching, and revellers need to consider how much they value their drivers’ licence before getting behind the wheel,” Sgt England said.
