Home visit restrictions will ease from Sunday when up to five members of one household will be allowed to visit another household, as two new COVID-19 cases and four more recoveries continue the downward trend of active Queensland cases.
There are now 50 active cases, 989 recovered and six deaths for a total of 1045.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said that meant some visitor restrictions would be eased.
“Sunday is Mother’s Day and because Queensland has been doing such a great job, from Sunday up to five members of a household may visit another home,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
“So that is great news for families.”
The Premier today had on-line discussions with hospitality and tourism industry representatives ahead of tomorrow’s National Cabinet meeting.
“We’ve got to have COVID-safe plans in place for cafes, restaurants, pubs, RSLs to reopen, so we’re getting all of that work done,” she said.
“I met with the Industrial Relations and Employment Ministers yesterday and that work is progressing at a rapid rate.”

- The Premier praised the work of Police and the COVID-19 Care Army after they came to the aid of an elderly woman who had fallen in her home and broken her hip.
“Without the Care Army and fantastic police officers, Erika may not have survived,” she said.
- Businesses employing Queenslanders will not pay payroll tax on JobKeeper payments.
“Once again, we’re listening to businesses and it’s very important that we assist them as much as we can during this period,” the Premier said.
