Raptor Squad charge man after locating nearly $700,000 during vehicle stop

Raptor Squad detectives have charged a man after police located nearly $700,000 cash during a vehicle stop in Sydney’s south-west.

Yesterday (Thursday 1 June 2023), detectives commenced an investigation into alleged drug supply activity.

After commencing an investigation into alleged drug supply activity on Thursday (1 June 2023), about 7pm the same day, officers attached to Raptor South Traffic and Highway Patrol stopped a white Toyota Prado travelling on the Hume Highway at Glen Alpine.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located and seized $692,230 in cash stored in reusable shopping bags. They also seized a small amount of methylamphetamine.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle – a 43-year-old man – was arrested at the scene.

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station where he was charged with knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, deal with property proceeds of crime => $100000, possess prohibited drug and possess DECCD to commit etc serious criminal activity.

The man was refused bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court today (Friday 2 June 2023).
