Raptor Squad charge man over attempted murder, NSW

Raptor Squad investigators have charged a man over the alleged attempted murder of another man in Sydney’s south-west last year.

Just before 8.30pm on Friday 6 November 2020, emergency services were called to Campbelltown Road at Denham Court, following reports a man had been shot.

The 45-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Initial inquiries were conducted by officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command, before detectives from the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Eradore.

Following extensive inquiries and a public appeal for information, Raptor Squad investigators arrested a 29-year-old man at a home at Maroubra about 11am on Tuesday 23 February 2021.

He was taken to Maroubra Police Station and charged with 20 offences including six counts of aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence (people there), five counts of steal motor vehicle, three counts of drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, two counts of never licenced person drive vehicle on road and four counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception.

Police will allege in court that the man stole a BMW M4 from a home in Lilyfield in July last year, that was subsequently used in the Denham Court shooting.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Waverley Local Court the following day (Wednesday 24 February 2021), and is next due to appear at Central Local Court on Tuesday 25 May 2021.

As part of ongoing investigations, Raptor Squad, with assistance from the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU), arrested a 40-year-old man at Surry Hills about 5pm yesterday (Wednesday 5 May 2021).

He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with with shoot at with intent to murder, and tamper with evidence with intent to mislead judicial tribunal.

The man was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Thursday 6 May 2021).
