Recognising outstanding contributions in our region

Nominations are now open for the Southern Grampians Shire Council 2022 Australia Day Awards. The awards are presented annually to individuals and groups to recognise the outstanding achievements and contributions they make to our region.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Bruach Colliton encourages locals to nominate someone special this Australia Day.

“The Southern Grampians community often goes above and beyond to support one another during tough times which is what makes our region a positive place to live,” said Cr Colliton.

“Nominating your friend, family member, neighbour or someone from the community for an Australia Day Award is the perfect way to not only recognise the tremendous job they do within the Southern Grampians, but is also a great way to celebrate their achievements.

“We know the last two years have been impacted heavily by the pandemic which has made it difficult for many of us socially, economically and mentally. But in facing these challenges, we have also been fortunate to witness many businesses, groups and individuals who have gone out of their way to support others,” said Cr Colliton.

The Southern Grampians Shire Council 2022 Australia Day Awards, includes four categories:

• Young Citizen of the Year for residents aged under 25 as at 26 January 2022 who have made a significant contribution to the community in the current year or over a number of years.
