A paste preventing oral diseases and a green tourism attraction showcasing Perth’s waterways are just two initiatives receiving a funding kick-start thanks to the Cook Government’s Innovation Booster Grants.

A record-breaking number of applications were received this year, with 43 successful recipients from across the State chosen to share in over $1.5 million to develop their innovative products, technologies and services.

Since its launch, 276 Innovation Booster Grants worth approximately $5.3 million have helped startups and small businesses turn ideas into commercial reality.

The grant, which has been doubled to up to $40,000 this round, is part of the New Industries Fund which aims to attract investment and promote the economic diversification of Western Australia.

Fourteen of this year’s recipients identify as culturally or linguistically diverse, 13 have female founders, five live regionally, two are youth entrepreneurs and two are living with a disability.

In line with the State Government’s Health and Medical Life Sciences Industry Strategy, six of the recipients will be supported through Health and Medical Life Sciences funding.
