Red Energy provides assistance to NSW & Queensland Bushfire victims

Snowy Hydro’s energy retailer Red Energy announced today that it would provide financial assistance and support for their customers impacted by the bushfires raging in New South Wales and South East Queensland.

Paul Broad, Managing Director of Snowy Hydro said “We have been shocked and saddened by the loss of life and property over the weekend and extend our deepest sympathies to everyone who has been impacted by the fires.”

Mr Broad said that Red Energy will offer assistance and support to their customers who live in the bushfire affected areas. “We will attempt to contact these customers in the coming days by phone to reassure them and to offer help, which might include bill credits, waiving debt, or advice on accessing government assistance.”

Red Energy has more than three hundred thousand customers in New South Wales and fifty thousand in South East Queensland, many of them living in regional areas.

“People in the bush are doing it really tough. Many of these areas impacted by the fires have been choked by drought. Over the last twelve months we have provided financial assistance to more than four hundred customers directly impacted by drought in New South Wales. Unfortunately given the size and ferocity of these current fires, we are expecting there will be many more customers in need of our help.”
