Reel Good News For Fishers At Hat Head

Kempsey Shire Council

The Hat Head fish cleaning station has a fresh start, ready to serve the community once again. Residents, fishers, and visitors alike can now enjoy this revitalised space for cleaning their catch, preserving Hat Head’s reputation as a local fishing hotspot.

This essential repair is a project Kempsey Shire Council undertook with care and persistence.

Over a year ago, a storm damaged the original roof of the fish cleaning station, causing significant inconvenience for fishers and the local community. Since then, council has been actively seeking suitable quotes and collaborating with contractors to ensure the project could be completed with quality and resilience in mind.

We are thrilled to announce the completion of this work by a skilled local contractor, delivering a practical and valued asset for our coastal community.

Dylan Reeves, Group Manager for Infrastructure Delivery, expressed his pride in this completed project, reinforcing how important it is to provide the community with spaces that are both functional and inviting.

“Our commitment to providing high-quality areas for residents and visitors to meet, play, and get outside with family and friends is unwavering. The new roof at Hat Head’s fish cleaning station is a prime example of our dedication to delivering projects that enrich the community,” said Reeves. “We’re excited to see the station back in use and to know it will benefit many.”

We invite everyone to visit the Hat Head fish cleaning station and enjoy our beautiful home. We hope to see you out there, making the most of this incredible resource and creating new memories in the heart of the Macleay Valley!
