Retail community response regarding the Bondi Junction tragedy

Statement from Australian Retailers Association (ARA) CEO Paul Zahra.

“The tragic events at Bondi Junction yesterday, which are still unfolding in their impact, have left our retail community and the broader community in deep shock.

“Our heartfelt condolences to all affected during this difficult time. We also recognise the incredible courage and rapid response undertaken by brave frontline retail workers and first responders who acted quickly to protect Australians during this harrowing incident.

“The ARA is in discussions with NSW Government about support services for retail teams and their customers who may have been affected by this terrible tragedy.

“Westfield Bondi Junction will remain closed today as the police continue their investigations and further information will be provided via Westfield in due course.

“As this remains a police matter with a live investigation, the ARA will not be making further media comment at this time.”
