The NSW Government will provide $3.74 million for a major revamp of Vaucluse Bowling Club to make it more accessible for the whole community.
Structural repairs and upgrades funded by Crown Lands will include new ramps and accessible toilets so the club and surrounding open space can welcome people of all abilities and stages of life.
The investment will make the club a focal point for community life, hosting events for everyone from retirees to young families, and help integrate it into the adjoining Samuel Park.
Minister for Lands and Water Kevin Anderson said the project is funded under the Greater Sydney Crown Lands Open Space Activation Program, which enhances Crown land reserves so they can be better used for recreation.
“The NSW Government is investing in Crown land reserves to improve the character and appeal of our suburbs and deliver the facilities that locals need,” Mr Anderson said.
The Vaucluse Bowling Club revamp will include:
- Upgraded retaining walls and access ramps to better integrate the Club with adjoining Samuel Park
- New accessible toilet, upgraded main entry for disability access and a new accessible ramp
- Repairs to the bowling sheds, garden shed and playing surfaces
- Repairs to the roof, gutters, drainage, floor, walls, fencing and balustrades
- Electrical and emergency lighting upgrades
- New carpets, kitchen equipment, air conditioning and ventilation in the toilets and painting work
- Integration of the Club into the adjoining Samuel Park
Woollahra Mayor Susan Wynne said the improvements will strengthen the community’s access to the site and make more open space available.
“This significant upgrade will make Vaucluse Bowling Club a hub for recreation allowing more people to use the facilities and enjoy additional open space for many years to come,” Councillor Wynne said.
