Ride no more in Officer

Eagle-eyed officers from State Highway Patrol impounded a motorcycle in Officer this afternoon after the rider was caught allegedly speeding.

Police saw a Kawasaki motorcycle take off from a set of traffic lights while doing a mono on the Princes Highway about 12.25pm.

It’s alleged the motorcycle sped up to 163km/h in a 80km/h speed zone before officers intercepted it.

The motorcycle was impounded on-the-spot for 30 days at a cost of $1,280.

The rider, a 29-year-old Pakenham man, is expected to be charged on summons for driving at a dangerous speed, exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, improper use of a motor vehicle and other traffic offences.
