Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics

The Northern Territory Government has released $100,000 in funding to create localised road safety campaigns or initiatives as part of the Towards Zero Road Safety Grants program 2020.

Grants of up to $5,000 are available to NT-based not-for-profit organisations, local governments, schools, sporting or community groups to develop and implement road safety initiatives addressing local road safety concerns and increasing road safety awareness.

The Toward Zero Road Safety Grants 2020 is administered by the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics in partnership with the Northern Territory Motor Accident Compensation Commission (MACC).

Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics Director General Manager of Transport and Civil Services, Louise McCormick, said the Towards Zero Road Safety Grants Program funds community lead projects that change and encourage behaviours and target specific road safety concerns.

“We’re committed to reducing road trauma and the impacts this has on our communities, and the Towards Zero Road Safety Grants Program provides an opportunity for all eligible groups and organisations to bring their road safety idea to life,” said Ms McCormick.

“Funding requests for initiatives during National Road Safety Week, which is being held 9-15 November 2020, are strongly encouraged”.

Quick Response Grants between $500 and $1,000 are also available throughout the year from Wednesday 1 July 2020 through Monday 31 May 2021.

Quick Response Grants are available to organisations who are undertaking an activity or holding an event that aims to encourage and engage community in responsible road user behaviours and cultures.

Applications for the Community grants are now open and close on Sunday 26 July 2020.
