Robberies and stolen cars, Currumbin and Ashmore

Police have arrested a total of ten people following a series of separate incidents on the Gold Coast overnight.

At 10:30pm, it will be alleged a man and a teenage boy smashed the front entry of a Bienvenue Drive business in Currumbin Waters before the duo allegedly stole a quantity of drugs.

Police attended the address and located two people in a vehicle which allegedly sped off.

The vehicle was tracked with the assistance of Polair 2 and located at the end of Currumbin Creek Road in Currumbin Valley.

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with break and enter while a 19-year-old man is currently assisting with inquiries.

While in the area, police located two stolen vehicles believed to be unrelated to the robbery.

A Mercedes had crashed at the intersection of Valley Drive and Rosewood Crescent. The occupants, three girls and a boy had abandoned it before they were arrested nearby with the assistance of Polair 2.

Police then deployed a tyre deflation device to stop a stolen Jeep on Tomewin Mountain Road before two girls and a boy were arrested at the scene. Seven youths aged between 12 and 15-years-old were arrested over the two stolen vehicles. Police are currently questioning those involved.

Later at 12:30am, two men have attended a pharmacy carpark on Ashmore Road and allegedly smashed the front window with a sledge hammer.

One man entered the pharmacy and stole a small amount of cash from the register before he returned to the car, which travelled south along Upton Street.

At 12:45am police observed a Black Mazda 323 sedan, which was allegedly the subject of multiple pharmacy break-ins, travelling at high speeds along Ross Street, evading police along Bermuda Street and Markeri Street.

Approximately 30 minutes later, the vehicle was sighted again on Somerset Drive Mudgeeraba where a tyre deflation device was used on Robina Parkway and the occupants abandoned the vehicle near the Robina Town Centre. One man was arrested hiding near the shopping centre.

A 19-year-old Mermaid Waters man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two counts of break and enter. He is expected to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today (March 31).
