Rockdale Library is celebrating 10 years as one of Bayside’s most vibrant community hubs. Since opening in 2016, the library has welcomed more than 2.2 million visits and evolved into much more than a place to borrow books.
You are invited to join us as we celebrate this milestone with a series special exhibitions, activities and events marking a decade at the heart of community life.
Rockdale Library first opened at its current location in July 2016. Over the past ten years, the library has become a valued community hub for literacy, lifelong learning, cultural engagement, and social connection.
Since opening the Rockdale Library has hosted 1448 programs for everyone from babies to seniors.
Today Rockdale Library is a thriving space for community activities, workshops, classes and film screenings where people of all ages meet, connect, learn and create.
New members who sign up in July will receive a commemorative, limited-edition library card. Limited edition library bags are also available for purchase.
Visitors to the library will have an opportunity enter photo competition.
A local history display of the library through the years can be seen on the ground floor, and a Secrets of the Local History Collection on level 2 has some rare and interesting items from our collection on display.
Bayside Mayor Edward McDougall said
“Rockdale Library is an important place to study, think and write. Our libraries continually evolve to meet community needs, and I am confident Rockdale library will continue to be a community hub, inspiring curious minds for many years to come,” Mayor Edward McDougall said.
