Leading health and safety professionals across Queensland’s resources sector are invited to attend an industry health and safety workshop at Queensland’s Parliamentary Annexe on November 30, 2021.

The in-person and online Lead Indicators workshop is being hosted by the Queensland Resources Council (QRC) and the Office of the Commissioner for Resources Safety and Health.

QRC Chief Executive Ian Macfarlane said the workshop theme of ‘Future Focus Areas and Practical Takeaways’ will focus on the latest, leading practices in health and safety across Queensland’s resources sector.

“We want every person working in resources to go home safely to their family after every shift, which is why resources companies prioritise continuous and ongoing learning and development for their health and safety teams,” Mr Macfarlane said.

“This is the best way to maintain a ‘safety first’ culture for every mine site and every employee, every single day.”

Resources Safety and Health Commissioner Kate du Preez said the workshop highlights the resources industry’s commitment to sharing information and research, and the need to work towards the continuous improvement of safety and health outcomes in Queensland’s resources sector.

The Lead Indicators workshop will be facilitated by health and safety expert Christian Young and features an impressive line-up of speakers, including advisors to some of Queensland’s largest resources companies.
