The community is invited to branch out with an event to mark National Tree Day that will help to reach our goal of planting 10,000 trees along the Little Para River.
The event will take place at John Harvey Oval, Salisbury on Sunday (August 1) and will involve planting hundreds of native trees in order to improve shade cover and conserve natural habitat while making the space more attractive to visit.
A number of plantings have been carried out in recent months with the community and local schools to meet the goal of 10,000 new trees and shrubs.
Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM called on the community to take the opportunity to spend time outdoors and get behind the project, which is being delivered in partnership State Government via the Open Spaces and Places for People Grant Program.
“I am encouraging everyone to come along and get their hands dirty and plant a piece of what will become Salisbury’s history,” Mayor Aldridge said.
