Saying thank you to our firefighters and emergency service personnel

Will Hodgman,Premier

Throughout the summer Tasmania’s firefighters, emergency services personnel, volunteers and community organisations did an outstanding job protecting and supporting communities in the face of bushfire.

On behalf of the community, the Tasmanian Government thanks them for their tireless work to keep our community safe.

To further recognise the outstanding efforts that so many people made to keeping everybody safe during the bushfires, a number of free community events will be held on the following dates:

  • Huon Valley – Saturday 30 March, 12noon-3pm, Geeveston
  • West Coast – Saturday 6 April, 12noon-3pm, Zeehan
  • Central Highlands – Saturday 13 April, 12noon-3pm, Miena
  • Derwent Valley – Saturday 27 April, 12noon-3pm, Westerway

The events will be family friendly and include free BBQs, children’s activities, live music and entertainment suitable for all ages.

They will be an opportunity for those who contributed to the bushfire response, those who were affected by the bushfires, and those who simply want to say ‘thanks’ to our emergency service workers and volunteers to come together as a community.

Free buses will be provided to transport people to the event throughout each municipality to ensure easy access for families in outlying communities.

The Tasmanian Government is working in partnership with local councils to present the four events.
