Second man arrested after King Street assault

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a second man following a serious assault that occurred in the CBD in March.

Investigators executed a search warrant at an address on Moussa Court, Truganina this morning, with a 21-year-old man arrested at the scene.

He has been charged with attempted murder and remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

The charges relate to an alleged incident on 24 March.

It is understood the victim had been driving along King Street about 4am when his car was blocked in by two other vehicles.

He exited the vehicle and was approached by two groups of males, who allegedly assaulted him and struck him to the head.

The 27-year-old Seabrook man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 23-year-old New South Wales man was previously arrested on 1 May in relation to the alleged incident.

He was charged with attempted murder and extradited to Victoria, where he has been remanded to appear at Melbourne County Court on 30 July.

Detectives are still looking for a number of males in relation to the assault.

They are perceived as African in appearance and may have been travelling in two red vehicles, a Mitsubishi and Subaru.

Police are also investigating whether the parties are known to each other.
